About

The Mastermind Competition

A deep dive into what we do, why we do it, and how your work will be evaluated.

Our Mission

Project Infinity BP exists to celebrate and nurture creative writing at every level. We believe that great writing can come from anyone, and our platform is designed to be as welcoming to a first-time writer as it is to a seasoned author.

Every few months, we issue a single, carefully crafted writing prompt. Participants have 40 days to respond with their best work. Entries are reviewed by human judges who provide detailed, constructive feedback — not to discourage, but to help every writer grow.

Official Grading Rubric

All submissions are evaluated on the following five criteria, totalling 100 points.

Creativity & Originality

30pts

The freshness, ingenuity, and imaginative quality of the ideas presented. Does the work surprise and engage the reader in unexpected ways?

Structure & Organisation

25pts

The coherence, pacing, and logical flow of the piece. Does it have a clear beginning, development, and resolution appropriate to its genre?

Engagement & Impact

25pts

The emotional or intellectual resonance of the piece. Does it captivate the reader and leave a lasting impression? Does it communicate something meaningful?

Grammar & Spelling

10pts

The technical accuracy of the writing. This includes correct use of grammar, punctuation, and spelling throughout the piece.

Prompt Adherence

10pts

How directly and thoughtfully the submission responds to the given prompt. Partial or superficial responses will be penalised.

100 points total — All judging is performed by human judges. Generative AI is not used in any part of the evaluation process.

How It Works

1

Competition Opens

The host publishes a new prompt and the 40-day submission window begins.

2

Write & Submit

Upload your response as a .docx or .pdf file. Your first submission may be made at any time. Resubmissions are permitted once every 24 hours — each resubmission permanently replaces your previous file.

3

Integrity Review

After the deadline, a co-host manually reviews every submission for plagiarism and AI-generated content. This review must be completed before judges are granted access.

4

Judging Period

Once the integrity review is complete, human judges grade every submission using the rubric above and write individual feedback. Judges are notified of any flagged concerns.

5

Results & Feedback

Each participant receives a private document with their score breakdown and written judge comments.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is this competition for?

Project Infinity BP is open to any writer with an account on the platform — there are no age, location, or experience restrictions unless stated for a specific season. Whether you are a first-time writer or a seasoned author, you are welcome to submit original work in response to the season's prompt.

Do I need to apply to enter?

No. There is no application process. Creating an account and uploading a submission before the deadline is all that is required.

Can I enter more than once per season?

Your first submission may be uploaded at any time. After that, you may resubmit once every 24 hours. Each resubmission permanently deletes your previous file — only your most recent upload at the time of the deadline will be graded.

Why is there a 24-hour cooldown between resubmissions?

The cooldown prevents rapid-fire uploads that could be used to probe the integrity scanners or flood the review queue. It also encourages participants to make deliberate, considered revisions rather than rushing incremental changes. Each resubmission permanently replaces your previous file, so take your time with each version.

Can I see other participants' submissions?

No. Submissions are private by default. Only winners who explicitly opt in have their work featured on the public Exemplars page. Winners can manage this preference from their Profile page at any time — opting out immediately removes their entry from public view.

Do I retain ownership of my writing?

Yes. You retain full ownership and copyright of everything you submit. The platform only uses your submission for the purposes of grading, providing feedback, and — for opted-in winners — public display on the Exemplars page. Your work is never used for training, resale, or redistribution.

What happens if my submission is flagged for AI or plagiarism?

All submissions are automatically scanned upon upload. After the deadline, a co-host manually reviews every submission before judging begins. Flagged submissions are reviewed further and may result in disqualification. Judges are notified of any flags before they grade.

What happens if I upload a file with malware or a virus?

Your file will be immediately removed from the submission pool. Your account will be permanently banned. Do not upload any file containing executable scripts, macros, viruses, or malicious content of any kind.

When will I receive my feedback?

Feedback is delivered at the end of the judging period, after the co-host review is complete. Timelines vary by season and are announced on the Competition page.
